 MEET THE MAKER

Raised in Ranching. Drawn to the Art.

Double M Beadwork is the work of MacKenzie Pyburn, a Texas-raised artist and silversmith whose designs are rooted in the ranching world she grew up in.

MacKenzie was raised around some of the largest ranches, cutting operations and breeding facilities in Texas. Long before she was making jewelry of her own, she understood the value of something made well. The tack, silver and gear used every day in ranch life weren't simply beautiful. They were built with purpose, used hard and often carried from one generation to the next.

That same idea still influences the way she creates today.

Her start in jewelry came early. Some of MacKenzie’s first memories of making are at the kitchen table with her mom, stringing beads and creating pieces together. At seventeen, she picked up a bead loom and began developing a style of her own.

What started with beadwork eventually led her to silversmithing.

 THE CRAFT

 From Beadwork to Silversmithing

MacKenzie was drawn to the challenge of working with metal and stone, learning new techniques and pushing each design further than the last. Over time, sterling silver and high-grade turquoise became the foundation of her work.

Today, every Double M piece is made by hand and carries MacKenzie's eye for stone, proportion and detail. She is particular about the turquoise she chooses, working with stones that have been hand-shaped by trusted lapidary artists and selecting them individually for their color, matrix and character.

No two stones are exactly alike, and she believes the jewelry built around them shouldn't be either.

A Few Things to Know

Every Double M piece has a little more behind it than what you see on the surface. Here are a few of the questions we hear most about the work, the materials, and how each piece comes together.

Double M Beadwork is MacKenzie’s brand and creative work, rooted in her lifelong connection to ranching, Western culture, and jewelry making. MacKenzie creates the beadwork, turquoise jewelry, and silversmithing that define Double M. Her husband also contributes handcrafted silverwork, engraving, and custom Western buckles, adding another layer of craftsmanship to the brand.
Natural turquoise and other stones have their own color, matrix, shape, and markings, which means no two are exactly alike. MacKenzie designs around the individual character of each stone rather than trying to make every piece identical. Those natural variations are part of what makes Double M jewelry one of a kind.
Yes, custom work is part of Double M, including select jewelry, silverwork, engraving, and Western buckles. Because each custom piece is created by hand, availability and design options may vary. Custom projects are approached individually so the finished piece still feels unmistakably Double M.
